Tails never fails

The Boyle County boys will be the No. 1 seed and Lincoln County will be the No. 2 seed for next week’s 45th District Tournament, thanks to the toss of a coin.

The tie-breaking toss came Saturday morning and became necessary after Lincoln County defeated Rockcastle County a few hours earlier. That was the final game factored into a tiebreaker involving common regional opponents at common sites that left Boyle and Lincoln tied after they finished with matching 5-1 district records and split their two games with each other.

A coin toss was also needed to determine one other top seed in a district involving an area team. The Casey County won a flip with Rockcastle County a few days ago to get the No. 1 seed in the 47th District.

Summer break

The blog and its author are taking a break during the slowest time of the year for high school sports. There will be occasional posts, but they'll be infrequent. Check back now and then, and come back often when a new sports year begins in August and we get cranked up again. Until then, enjoy your summer!
